Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 21 May 2021 lauded Varanasi for fighting efficiently against the second wave of the COVID-19 crisis. While interacting with doctors, paramedical staff and other frontline health workers of his parliamentary constituency, PM Modi said, "Varanasi has set a great example by the way it has equipped Pandit Rajan Mishra COVID hospital and increased the number of oxygen beds and ICU beds in the city, in such a short span of time."
PM Narendra Modi during review shown his deepest grief by stating "Corona has snatched many loved ones from us. I pay my respects to all those people, expressing my condolences to their families. The Second Wave of Corona created great pressure on our health system. We are meeting this challenge with the hard work of doctors, health workers".

PM Modi also praised a system generated by A K Sharma and his KCRC Team named "जहां बीमार वहीं उपचार", a strategy based on Micro-Containment Zones. PM also said the system is exemplary and a MANTRA.
